The United States is deploying a third aircraft carrier strike group towards Iran, a US official told Al Jazeera.
The deployment
The USS Theodore Roosevelt left San Diego, followed by the Makin Island amphibious group carrying more than 2,000 Marines. By the end of November, three carriers and two amphibious groups are expected near Iran, adding to about 50,000 US personnel already there.
Diplomacy stalled
Indirect talks have stalled, and CNBC reports oil prices remain above pre-war levels. Energy prices have fed into rising bills in the UK.
