The UK has announced 31 new sanctions against Russia, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said on 1 October 2026, as it seeks to increase economic pressure before winter.

Who is targeted

The measures cover vessels in Russia’s liquefied natural gas shadow fleet, Kremlin disinformation networks, eight people accused of arbitrary detention and torture of Ukrainian civilians, and seven people accused of indoctrinating and militarising Ukrainian children, including deported children.

Context

The FCDO says Russia fired more than 3,100 jet-powered drones into Ukraine in September, a wartime record. Sanctions include asset freezes and travel bans, according to the official sanctions notice.
