Syngenta has started a formal consultation with trade unions over plans to close its Grangemouth chemical plant, according to reports by BBC Scotland and The Scotsman.

The Scotsman reports that 377 jobs have been placed at risk.
Reason given
Syngenta said the operation was no longer competitive because of increasing competition from overseas.
