NHS Tayside has admitted health and safety failings that led to the death of a high-risk dementia patient at Murray Royal Hospital in Perth, the BBC reports.
What happened
Andrea Imrie, 82, died on 13 January 2024, a week after falling and suffering head injuries. Perth Sheriff Court heard her bed alarm had been moved to a new patient’s bed because of an equipment shortage, and a motion-sensor system failed to alert staff.
The plea
The board admitted a breach of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, according to The Courier.
Apology
An NHS Tayside spokesperson said it was deeply sorry for the pain and grief caused and had taken steps to prevent similar incidents.
