Councils will receive around £222,000 each for community food shops, mobile greengrocers and cooking classes.
The UK Government is to invest £10 million in a Good Food Neighbourhoods programme across 45 of England’s most deprived communities, Food Manufacture reports.
Payments of about £222,000 will go to councils with the highest deprivation and childhood obesity, supporting community food shops, mobile greengrocers, lunch clubs, kitchens and nutrition programmes.
Around 9% of people lived in food-insecure households in 2024/25.
