Ellie Reeves and Andy Slaughter sworn in as Law Officers

Ellie Reeves KC MP and Andy Slaughter MP were sworn in as Attorney General and Solicitor General at the Royal Courts of Justice on 1 October, following their appointments in July. Alex Norris MP was also sworn in as Lord Chancellor.

Priorities

Ms Reeves said tackling violence against women and girls remains her top priority. Mr Slaughter, formerly chair of the Justice Select Committee, said he had seen first-hand the pressures on the justice system.

Scotland

Scotland has its own Law Officers, the Lord Advocate and Solicitor General for Scotland, whose roles are now under independent review.
